So I just did a mock draft where Larry Fitz fell to the 3rd round. (12 team, start 3 WRs) And I commented that that should never happen (as I drafted Calvin Johnson). Someone then spoke up and said, "Yea, but Leinhart's throwing the ball now, and Boldin's not there."
Alright, here are Fitz stats from 2006. Im only showing the 7 games where Kurt Warner did not play at all.
38 catches for 499 yards and 3 TDs.
And the first game he only had two catches (one for a TD) and then got injured and missed the next 3 weeks. So Fitz also played the remaining 6 games coming back from a hamstring.
Lets prorate those 7 games out...
87 catches for 1140 yards and 7 TDs.
And that was with a rookie QB and a bad hamstring. I think its safe to assume he could put up even better numbers if:
1. Matt Leinhart has improved since his days as a rookie.
2. Larry Fitzgerald doesn't get hurt.
Now the Boldin thing. No excuses required for this one:
2009 Boldin missed 1 game:
Fitz had 9 catches 123 yards and 2 tds
2008 Boldin Missed 4 games:
Fitz had 20 catches for 460 yard 6 tds
2007 Boldin Missed 4 games:
Fitz had 31 catches for 430 yards 2 TDs
If we prorate that out we get...
108 catches for 1800 yards and 14 TDs.
So, the only points Im trying to make here is these:
Dont be afraid of No Boldin.
Don't be that afraid of Leinhart.

good research xlledx!
When Warner first announced his retirement i was in a bit of a panic in my keeper league. i tried to trade him for Calvin Johnson and was rejected. then i tried to trade him for Vincent Jackson only to again be rejected (thank god that one wasn't accepted!!). After that i was will looking at potential moves, but looking around the fantasy field i couldn't find another WR that i would rather have than Fitz (i also own Andre Johnson), so i accepted Fitz's fate of playing with Leinart. I wasn't really concerned with Boldin's departure. sure, Boldin is an excellent WR in his own right, but i don't think that teams will be able to triple team Fitz becuase they still have other WRs that will be able to pick up the slack as the WR2 in Arizona.

I think a lot of people had this reaction.
Good thing you still at least have a player who isn't going to be out until Week 10. I have Welker as my only decent WR in my keeper league ![]()

I had forgotten that Warner completely sat out the first two games of the 2007 season as well. Here are Fitzgerald's numbers from those two games...
10 catches 107 yards and 0 TDs. Ouch.
That changes the prorate to:
85 catches 1077 and 5 TDs
Which I think is still a good basement for an elite WR.

I'm all over third-round Fitz

I don't believe in Leinart, maybe he'll be ok, but I would take Reggie Wayne or Randy Moss above him. Without Boldin, things may be different.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Boldin put up comparable numbers to Fitz this year.

I don't have Fitz nearly as high as he once was, afterall, he was considered the no. 1 WR at some point.
I think he has better value with Anderson at the helm. He's got a bigger arm and has shown to be affective with a vertical thread reciever like Edwards. Fitzgerald is of course, heads and shoulders better so...
I don't see Leinart making it passed his bye week.

last years numbers weren't great, and you are taking away Boldin, and giving him a sh#$%y QB.
I am not excited about him.
I am excited about B Wells getting more carries due to their QB ineptitude.

I like your analysis xlledx. I think Leinart is marginal but and I'm not that big on the Cardinal running attack but I think Fitz, Breaston, and Hightower coming out of the backfield make for a good receiving corp. Your stats on Fitz show me that he can be a factor even with a less than stellar QB.

Not Afraid of Fitz but I have Andre,Moss,R Wayne, Miles Austin and Roddy White ahead of him. I just think all these guys are on better offenses and have a better report with their QBs.

Im probably only taking Fitz in the 3rd round by now. Easily 24 other players I like more than him.
